Officers responded to the incident on the 3800 block of I Street around 2:27 p.m., where they found the girl, later identified as Mia Andujar, with a gunshot wound.
Mia was transported to St. Christopher’s Hospital and was pronounced dead at 2:39 p.m., according to authorities. Responding officers secured a firearm found at the scene.
Following an investigation, police arrested 24-year-old Alan Nguyen, who faces charges of Involuntary Manslaughter, Endangering the Welfare of a Child, and Recklessly Endangering Another Person (REAP), officials announced on Monday.
The investigation remains ongoing, police said.
